FAQ: Servo Emulator

Where does the Servo Emulator Fit?

Some customers expect the Servo Emulator for XB12 models to go under the Air Intake cover near the connection to the servo motor on the exhaust valve actuator.  Instead it fits under the seat, connecting into the harness as a replacement for the harness connection to the exhaust valve actuator.

It is easier than lifting off the air intake cover, but it can be difficult to spot. The connection is a grey triangular plug.  The original has the 4 wires that go back to the exhaust valve actuator.  The servo emulator has only one wire which needs to be earthed.  The connector is on the left hand side of the battery.  On my XB-R it was tucked under the side panel - above the key release for the duck-tail.  Contact us if you do have problems finding it.

You only need an emulator if you are changing to a muffler for an XB12 that doesn't have a valve, and you are also changing to an open airbox.  If you keep the standard airbox, you can keep the standard actuator electrically connected; just remove the mechanical pull cable.
